RULES & REGULATIONS

The Business Bet – Guesstimate Challenge is a high-pressure, team-based business competition designed to test how participants make commercially sound decisions when information is incomplete. Teams are challenged to structure problems, build assumptions, apply quantitative reasoning and demonstrate business judgement. The competition also tests adaptability and communication as participants respond to changing business conditions and defend their decisions. Rather than focusing solely on numerical accuracy, the event emphasizes the quality of reasoning behind a business decision and the ability to translate estimates into practical recommendations. It provides participants with a rigorous management experience centred on decision-making under uncertainty, analytical thinking, business problem-solving and effective communication.

  • Teams must consist of 2–3 participants.
  • Participants must report to the Seminar Hall before the scheduled reporting time.
  • All participants must carry a valid college or institution ID.
  • Teams must structure each guesstimate problem clearly and state the assumptions used in arriving at their estimates.
  • Participants will be evaluated on the quality of their reasoning, quantitative approach, business judgement and practical recommendations, not solely on numerical accuracy.
  • Teams must adapt their decisions and recommendations when business conditions or case information changes.
  • Teams must be prepared to clearly communicate and defend their assumptions, estimates and final decisions.
  • Any form of cheating, plagiarism, misconduct, unauthorised assistance or unfair practice may result in disqualification.
  • The organising committee reserves the right to make final decisions on disputes, scoring and rule interpretation.
  • Participants must follow all venue, campus and event-day instructions provided by the organising committee.
